RGAA, WCAG 2.2 and EAA accessibility audit, followed by remediation

Regulatory facts checked on 26 September 2026.

We audit your websites, apps and documents against the French RGAA 4.1.2, extended to the criteria added in WCAG 2.2. The service is built for organisations subject to the RGAA, for companies within the scope of the European Accessibility Act since 28 June 2025, and for Moroccan banks committed to the Bank Al-Maghrib charter. After the audit, the same team fixes the code and checks the result. We work from Morocco, nearshore for our French and European clients, with communication and deliverables in French.

01 · Audience

Who it is for

French public bodies and companies covered by Article 47

Article 47 of the French law of 11 February 2005 (in French) applies to public bodies, to some private bodies with a public service mission, and to companies whose turnover in France exceeds a threshold set by decree. They publish an accessibility statement and a multi-year accessibility plan, broken down into annual action plans. The RGAA is the reference evaluation method.

Private companies within the scope of the European Accessibility Act

Since 28 June 2025, Directive (EU) 2019/882 has applied to consumer banking services, e-commerce, electronic communications and some passenger transport services, among others. Each member state designates its own enforcement authorities. The European standard EN 301 549 sets out the technical requirements; as of 26 September 2026, its reference version is still v3.2.1. 02 · Scope

What the accessibility audit covers

RGAA 4.1.2 and WCAG 2.2 criteria

As of 26 September 2026, the version of the RGAA in force is 4.1.2 (in French). It has 106 criteria and is based on WCAG 2.1. RGAA 5, which will include WCAG 2.2, mobile apps and office documents, is expected by the end of 2026 according to the DINUM.

We already add the six Level A and AA criteria of WCAG 2.2: 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum), 2.5.7 Dragging Movements, 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum), 3.2.6 Consistent Help, 3.3.7 Redundant Entry and 3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (Minimum). The audit stays usable once RGAA 5 is out.

It also covers the WCAG-based requirements of the European standard EN 301 549: clause 9 for the web and its equivalent for documents (clause 10). The software equivalent (clause 11) is only in scope if native apps are part of the audit, which is still to be confirmed (see below). That holds for v3.2.1, still the reference version on 26 September 2026, and for v4.1.1, aligned with WCAG 2.2 but not yet cited in the Official Journal of the EU (AccessibleEU, 7 September 2026). The standard goes beyond WCAG: closed functionality (clause 5), hardware (clause 8), interoperability with assistive technologies and user preferences (clause 11), documentation and support services (clause 12), relay services (clause 13). These requirements matter for ATMs, kiosks and apps, and call for a separate analysis.

Manual testing, assistive technologies and automated tools

Automated tools quickly find some issues: contrast, missing attributes, structural errors. They cannot judge whether a text alternative is relevant, whether the reading order makes sense or whether an error message is clear. Many criteria need human judgement, with a keyboard and a screen reader. 06 · Remediation

Fixing after the audit, with the same team

An audit report fixes nothing on its own. At VOID, the team that audits is also the team that builds: fixes are written by developers who know your stack.

Drupal websites

An RGAA audit of a Drupal site leads to fixes at three levels: the theme (templates, components, styles), contributed content (headings, links, text alternatives, tables) and modules (forms, menus, media). React, Next.js and React Native

Reusable accessible components, focus management on page changes, announced status messages, forms validated without losing input. On mobile, VOID builds with React Native, for example the MyRMA app for RMA Assurance. See our React and Next.js expertise.

Keeping conformance over time

A fix gets lost in the next release if nothing protects it. We add automated accessibility tests to continuous integration and a manual check of key journeys at each major release, then track conformance as part of ongoing application maintenance.

Working with a team in Morocco

The team audits and fixes from Casablanca, with communication and deliverables in French. Since 20 September 2026, Morocco has been back on GMT (decree 2.26.530, Official Bulletin 7521 of 29 June 2026, in Arabic): one hour behind Paris in winter, two hours in summer. 07 · Position

No overlays

An overlay adds a script on top of a website and promises conformance without touching the code. In April 2025, the US Federal Trade Commission required the vendor accessiBe to pay 1 million dollars over WCAG compliance claims it found false or unsupported (FTC press release). In May 2023, the European Disability Forum and the IAAP stated that these tools do not make a website compliant with European legislation (EDF and IAAP joint statement).

Our commitment: VOID neither sells nor recommends widgets as a way to achieve conformance.

How much does an accessibility audit cost?

How long does an RGAA audit take?

What is the difference between the RGAA and WCAG?

WCAG is the international set of guidelines published by the W3C; version 2.2 is also the ISO/IEC 40500:2025 standard. The RGAA is the French method: it turns those guidelines into testable criteria and sets out how to audit. RGAA 4.1.2 is based on WCAG 2.1; RGAA 5 will include WCAG 2.2. Across the EU, the European standard EN 301 549 builds on WCAG: as of 26 September 2026, its reference version is still v3.2.1, based on WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Should we wait for RGAA 5 before auditing?

No. The DINUM asks organisations not to put ongoing work on hold. Statements made with RGAA 4.1.2 will remain valid for 18 months after RGAA 5 is published, within a limit of 3 years from their publication. Adding the WCAG 2.2 criteria now keeps the audit usable.

Can we audit our website ourselves?

You can start with an automated tool and a keyboard walk-through: they catch part of the issues. A conformance audit also requires knowing the RGAA method, testing with assistive technologies and judging each criterion on a representative sample.

Does the audit cover iOS and Android apps?

Do you write the accessibility statement and the multi-year plan?

The conformance audit provides what the statement requires: conformance rate, non-conformities, exemptions and the audited sample. How do you work from Morocco with a French or European organisation?

The team works from our offices in Casablanca and Agadir. Communication, the report and debriefs are in French. Can an accessibility widget replace remediation?

No. A widget adds a layer on top of the website without fixing the code or the documents. In 2025, the US Federal Trade Commission penalised a vendor that promised WCAG compliance this way. In 2023, the European Disability Forum and the IAAP stated that these tools do not make a website compliant with European legislation.
